Safety and Conservation of the Natural Environment
At Atom Heart, we pride ourselves on living in harmony with the nature that surrounds us. We ask that you consider the following recommendations to ensure a safe and environmentally friendly stay:
A) Insect Control Keep doors, windows and screens closed to prevent insects from entering the property.
B) Nighttime Caution For your safety, avoid walking barefoot in the gardens around the cabins at night.
C) Eco-friendly repellent and copal: We recommend using an eco-friendly insect repellent, especially during the rainy season and at dusk. We have provided copal for you to repel mosquitoes outdoors. If you decide to burn it, always keep it away from palapas to prevent accidents from sparks, and be sure to completely extinguish the copal burner when finished.
D) Respect for local wildlife. Please do not capture or harm any animals. If you find an insect inside the cabin, please carefully remove it to the garden. If you spot a snake in the vicinity, please do not attempt to handle or harm it—notify Atom Heart staff immediately so we can arrange for its safe relocation.
E) Outdoor Food Avoid leaving food exposed that may attract animals to the property.
F) Water Safety: The use of a life jacket is mandatory when using any watercraft (sailboat, kayak, stand-up paddleboard, etc.). If you cannot swim, wear one even when swimming in the lagoon. We suggest you stay close to the property, especially after dark.
G) Care of the lagoon ecosystem: We ask that you avoid using conventional sunscreen when swimming in the lagoon. If it is essential, choose an eco-friendly formula and apply it sparingly, as the chemical components of conventional products alter and damage the delicate lagoon ecosystem.
H) Protection of the stromatolites 🪨 Please avoid stepping on or touching the stromatolites. These so-called "living rocks" are invaluable organisms: they play a fundamental role in the conservation and balance of the lagoon ecosystem and help maintain its crystal-clear waters. We are fortunate to have a large number of them along the coast of our property.
